History and Experience.

When dealing with MALIS|LAW, you don't get a network of office workers, junior lawyers and paralegals who wall you off from the man who actually makes the decisions that affect your case.  You get your personal attorney, Daniel Malis, who is directly involved in every aspect of your claim from start to finish.

Dan is a magna cum laude graduate of Wesleyan University with Honors in History, and a cum laude graduate of Boston University School of Law. He has forty years experience in trying all kinds of personal injury cases in every court in the Commonwealth, including federal and state courts at all levels, and is personally responsible for over $42 million in recoveries for injured persons over his career.

A trial practice innovator, Dan has a reputation for finding creative, "out of the box" solutions to complex legal and medical issues.  Dan was nominated and selected to be a member of the Multimillion Dollar Advocates Forum for having been lead counsel for several cases resolved for multiple millions of dollars, and has also been chosen as the one of the National Trial Lawyers Top 100 Attorneys for Massachusetts. He has presented on varying topics involving trial practice and personal injury law in professional accreditation seminars, and has lectured on appellate advocacy, personal injury, and civil procedure at area law schools. He has taken on insurers and large manufacturers, and participated in litigation against Big Tobacco, holding companies responsible for years of misleading the public about the risks of smoking, including cross examining  high level corporate officers of Big Tobacco.  He participates annually in judging the National Law School Moot Trial Court Competition for the American Association of Justice, the leading personal injury trial lawyers' organization.

Dan is known in the legal community as a hard nosed, passionate and relentless advocate for clients' rights, regardless of the difficulty of the case or the relative size of the claim, bringing the same dedication and passion to everything from a routine "fender bender" to deaths and serious injuries caused by negligence of major corporations.  That passion is driven by his dedication to clients and their problems.

Dan "In Real Life".

Dan's passionate commitment to justice and a fair society includes service to the community at large.  He has served on the boards of several local charitable organizations, including the Cambridge Housing Assistance Fund, which provides subsidies for homeless and near-homeless individuals and families, and Community Call, Inc., an organization providing student centered, experiential programming focusing on civic and social issues to at risk high school students in the Boston school system.

In his personal life, Dan is an accomplished classical music singer who has performed as a choral member and soloist with concert choruses in the Boston area.  He has sung major works with the Boston Philharmonic
Orchestra in Boston's Symphony Hall and at Carnegie Hall.  (

In 2013, he organized the first benefit concert for victims of the Boston Marathon bombing, “One Community, Once Voice,” hosting over 1000 singers in a group sung performance of the Brahms “Requiem” which raised thousands of dollars for victims of the bombing.  (Hear a BBC interview with Dan about the event here https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b03lpfww)

Dan is married with two adult children.  Among his character references is his soft spot for animals; he lives with three adopted rescue dogs, "works with" (or for) two rescue office cats, and also feeds a "somewhat adopted" stray cat who visits daily for a meal.
