What do we mean by
"Lawyer's Lawyer"?
Lawyers receive cases in many ways, including advertising (which we don’t do), word of mouth (which we’re grateful for), and referral from other lawyers. So why do lawyers send perfectly good cases to other lawyers?
After all, they went to law school, just like we did … First of all, lawyers specialize, and personal injury and civil litigation is what we specialize in – in Dan’s case, for over 40 years.
Second is the nature of our practice. We specialize in complex civil cases – the kind of cases that involve complex facts and even more complex law, and which a first look would tell you would not work. The other lawyers COULD handle the case; but they knew that we not only WOULD handle it, but we would get a maximum recovery for the referred client.

Dan is the founder of MALIS|LAW and has been trying and litigating simple and complex personal injury matters before juries, judges, and appellate courts for nearly 40 years.
Many personal injury firms are “tort factories.” They treat their clients like spare parts, assemble their cases like products on a conveyor belt,
follow an established script, and manage cases for fast turnover.
At MALIS|LAW, we know that each client, each accident, and each injury is different. There’s no “standardization”, and we see ourselves as craftsmen .
We pride ourselves on finding “out of the box” solutions to knotty legal and factual issues, as well as the intricacies of insurance coverage that often slow recovery. We don’t rush you out the door, and ensure that we know all of the details of a client’s injury and treatment before we even start to negotiate. Like the old winemaking commercial, we will resolve no case before it’s time to do so.
Our creativity and focus is why lawyers (and even law professors) refer cases to us; referring counsel call us “the lawyer’s lawyer.” We’re the firm that attorneys look to when they have a fight on their hands and need someone ready for a courtroom fight (and to be honest, Dan has way too much fun trying cases.)

Official Office Cats Vera and Serafina, a bonded pair of tortoiseshell kittens found on the streets of San Juan, have joined our practice as official office mascots. They specialize in advocacy for attention and cat treats; keeping company with waiting clients; occasionally disrupting meetings; guest appearances in Zoom conferences; and generally keeping our spirits up to the challenge of your case.

MALIS|LAW serves clients throughout Massachusetts, with a central office in Cambridge, MA and satellite meeting spaces in the Merrimack Valley and on Massachusetts’ South Coast. Our local presence in these areas gives clients ready access to our firm and our resources.
While we can schedule meetings in any of those areas, we recognize that we serve injured people who may not be able to leave their homes to meet initially. Dan will come to you wherever you are to speak with you and personally manage your case. While we always want to get to know our clients personally, disabled clients also appreciate our familiarity with on line streaming services like Zoom , and our internet-based case management system allows for immediate data entry and a prompt commencement of your case.
